Engaging and managing recovering & traumatised employees - the plan

Posted by: Mags Shapiro in Wokforce Effectiveness

Mags Shapiro

Step 1:  Define clear boundaries

  • Organisational structure & broad areas of responsibilty
  • Job profiles
  • Set of policies to define 'basic rules'
  • Set of policies & procedures around consequences and objections

Step 2:  Build engagement

  • Performance management system
  • Communication system

Step 3: Develop capabilities

  • Training and development plan

Step 4:  Support

  • In-house Employee Wellness Programme focused on de-briefing and recovery from abuse & addiction

It's a fine balance between ensuring discipline, nurturing growth, supporting recovery and developing skills.  All elements are equally important and it will be interesting to see which are favoured in implementation.  It is also an unusual role for the employer to facilitate an employee's recovery programme.  It will be interesting to see how this influences management and ultimately discipline.
