Engaging and Retaining Talent

Like customer retention, employee retention can be the single biggest factor affecting an organisation's bottom line. The total cost of replacing a single senior manager or professional can easily approach 2 or 3 times that person's salary. Organisations have the potential to save enormous money and knowledge by reducing their turnover even slightly. This topic will concentrate on determining what mix of tools, policies, benefits and technologies have the highest positive effect on retaining an organization's talent.

Prof. Shirley Zinn is the Director of HR at Nedbank. Prior to this, she was the General Manager for Human Resources at the South African Revenue Service (SARS). Shirley is also an Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Human Resource Management. In addition to serving on the Monash South Africa Board, she also is the Chairperson of the Institute of Bankers South Africa and sits on the Council of the Banking Sector Education and Training Authority. She holds an M.Ed (University of the Western Cape) and an Ed D in Education (Harvard).
